On packaging list it was suggested [2] that you join forces with Debian, which also ships pre-built binary, and try to convince them to switch to dev86's bcc. It brings an advantage of being distributed with quite popular Linux distribution. It just doesn't grant the user the freedom to modify the program to suit his needs.
