Summary: Review Request: srm - Secure file deletion https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=478616 Summary: Review Request: srm - Secure file deletion Product: Fedora Version: rawhide Platform: All OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: medium Priority: medium Component: Package Review AssignedTo: nobody@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ReportedBy: fabian@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx QAContact: extras-qa@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx CC: notting@xxxxxxxxxx, fedora-package-review@xxxxxxxxxx Estimated Hours: 0.0 Classification: Fedora Spec URL: http://fab.fedorapeople.org/packages/SRPMS/srm.spec SRPM URL: http://fab.fedorapeople.org/packages/SRPMS/srm-1.2.9-1.fc9.src.rpm Project URL: http://srm.sourceforge.net/ Description: srm is a secure replacement for rm(1). Unlike the standard rm, it overwrites the data in the target files before unlinkg them. This prevents command-line recovery of the data by examining the raw block device. It may also help frustrate physical examination of the disk, although it's unlikely that completely protects against this type of recovery.
