I'll sure give this a shot ... even though, this seems to be the
"opposite" direction of what I was hoping for :)  I'm not sure how Motif
XS and XG are related.  I thought XG was related to the newer and
improved GM standard (which the XS should support somehow, as far as I
remember)

The Motif series are hardware synth/workstations, and the versions with
physical keys also got an included sampler, so it's not a pure "sound
card", in that regards.  Motif ES came after the old Motif, and the
Motif XS came after Motif ES again.  And the corresponding S90ES is
based on the Motif ES tone generator, while the newer S90XS is based
upon Motif XS ... but the "cool" thing, the Motif XS is running some
kind of a Linux (MontaVista based, AFAIK) - but I've not been able to
jail it :-P

I've looked through some of your links about the different XG related
products, and most of them seem to be "computer boards" and not so much
standalone devices, like the Motif XS.
