Good point Gerold. I'd like to add that there are also numerous dedicated server & VPS providers who offer Fedora to their clients and Im sure these are not counted :)

Best regards,

Mikko Kivinen

P.S. It's my first message on the list, been following for some while and I will try to join the discussions more from now on :)

To be honest ...

this counting is not real!
This can only be a "minimum" of used Systems, because of:

how many users (like me) have a bunch of machines in their LAN and are
using a own mirror?! I for myself have five machines in my LAN and these
are definitly NOT counted ...

MAYBE, maybe ...

we should somehow create a "counting page" with registered user with a
"value" for registration ...

I for myself believe and think this can help us to get better numbers
and knowledge about the existing and Fedora using Machines and Users ...

Just my five cents

Hi

In just 133 days after the Fedora Core 6 release, we have crossed over 2
million installations. This is going hot!

More details at http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Statistics. More interesting metrics on the hardware users install Fedora on is available at http://smolt.fedoraproject.org/stats
