  Without changing the R.spec that is not possible.

  Even more fundamental is the fact that R defines RHOME, R home directory. In 
a i686 this is
$ R RHOME
/usr/lib/R

and for a x86_64
$ R RHOME
/usr/lib64/R

  So this does not seem easy to achieve. :-(
