have a look at fpcits initial build contained a bianry copy of the compiler as 
fpc is written in pascal  and needed a pascal compiler to build.  its first 
update  then required itself to build.  

you could possibly do something similar if indeed there is a circular 
dependancy.  if that is indeed the case  thats a bad design by upstream
