Hi all! The Docs FAD officially wrapped up a few moments ago. Today was another work day. For the different areas we focused on at the start, we continued work in those places and made good progress by the end of the day. At the end, we wrapped up with a quick stand-up of what we worked on during the FAD and shared feedback together. This is all in the minutes! Thanks everyone for coming out to the FAD and to all of the remotees for hanging out with us. Let's keep the Docs train rolling! = = = = = Meeting ended Fri Mar 2 19:36:43 2018 UTC. (jwf, 18:37:52) * LINK: http://etherpad.osuosl.org/fdocs2018 (jwf, 18:38:57) * Before this, Docs project was mostly automated message for meeting that people weren't attending; we want people who were here or participating remote to keep the momentum after FAD (jwf, 18:39:23) * bexelbie is great, but he is no longer able to contribute significantly to documentation (jwf, 18:40:12) * If leadership isn't interesting, join the docs team! A team of enthused people is even more important than a single leader (jwf, 18:40:32) * HELP: For those interested in becoming active, keep participating! Easier for bexelbie to run meetings than to spend large portion of time hacking on docs. Come to the meetings and keep working with us on putting up the docs. (jwf, 18:41:23) * ryanlerch made the front page more simple and cleaned up the design (jwf, 18:42:06) * LINK: https://docs.stg.fedoraproject.org/ (jwf, 18:42:14) * mattdm: Spent a lot of time working on the Council Docs repositories, expanded on leadership for Fedora Project (jwf, 18:43:11) * LINK: https://docs.stg.fedoraproject.org/fedora-project/project/leadership.html (jwf, 18:43:16) * LINK: https://docs.stg.fedoraproject.org/fedora-project/project/objectives.html (jwf, 18:43:37) * Objectives page is expanded with an overview and how to propose one (jwf, 18:43:58) * Lists current objectives, but that was mostly wiki copypaste (jwf, 18:44:13) * Most data is intended to be static in the Council Docs with minor changes each release or year (jwf, 18:44:28) * langdon: Details for Objectives should be more detailed (jwf, 18:45:19) * rkratky: Better header rendering between Objectives (jwf, 18:46:25) * mattdm drew a lovely mindmap of the entire Fedora community! (jwf, 18:46:56) * LINK: https://docs.stg.fedoraproject.org/fedora-project/project/orgchart.html (jwf, 18:47:04) * By itself, hard to read: But a good representation of how the Fedora community is spread apart (jwf, 18:47:34) * many pages still need work - there is still room for you to contribute (bexelbie, 18:48:31) * HELP: Council Docs: "Get help!" and "Get involved!" pages need help (jwf, 18:48:34) * Fedora Project leadership pages expanded with pictures and other changes to make them more personal, to show that it's a community of people behind the project (jwf, 18:50:50) * LINK: https://docs.stg.fedoraproject.org/fedora-project/council/fpl.html (jwf, 18:51:06) * Goal is to have this info for all Council members (jwf, 18:51:53) * LINK: https://docs.stg.fedoraproject.org/fedora-project/council/fpgm.html Some pages are still unchanged and need love (jwf, 18:53:11) * HELP: Policy statements being surfaced out of the wiki should be surfaced; help bexelbie and drop a line if you stumble on these things (jwf, 18:53:58) * notice how we converted the tables on the FPL and FCAIC pages into definition lists - good advice (bexelbie, 18:54:29) * LINK: https://screenshots.firefox.com/GYT6WlB23xl159OZ/docs.stg.fedoraproject.org (jwf, 18:56:52) * LINK: https://docs.stg.fedoraproject.org/fedora-project/subprojects/mindshare/docs/contribute/first-steps.html (jwf, 18:59:27) * New breadcrumbs: Should be more intuitive and make more sense, thanks to ryanlerch (jwf, 19:00:43) * HELP: As part of the docs writing guidelines, anyone writing about proprietary / patented software should include the header / -- Cheers, Justin W.
