I think the release announcement sufficiently describes the alpha release.  The 
availability of alpha will help in generating content for the release notes, 
and there should be a published product for beta.  As I said in the release 
readiness meeting, I don't think the alpha merits expending limited docs time 
on polishing alpha release notes.  The announcement is great, let's go with 
it.
