Summary: Following instructions to build a custom kernel
                    doesn't work
           Product: Fedora Documentation
           Version: devel
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: medium
          Priority: low
         Component: docs-requests
        AssignedTo: eric@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
        ReportedBy: sarcastic.mannequin@xxxxxxxxx

Instructions at http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Building_a_custom_kernel for
building custom kernel do not work.

I'm trying to build a custom kernel for Fedora 10.

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Follow the instructions as given at
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Building_a_custom_kernel. Copy new Kconfig(s) and
copy some source files into the ~/rpmbuild/BUILD/kernel-2.6.$ver.new directory.
Some source files are new and some are copied over existing source files.
2. Follow more instructions as given
3. Try to generate patch and perform "make menuconfig"

Actual results:

Patches are generated incorrectly and new options in new Kconfig files don't
show in the kernel configuration menus.

Expected results:

Following the instructions as given should work.
