I've seen some hamming apps in yum and elsewhere, and that's good to see. I have applied to join the Docs Project contributor group (docs) in the Fedora Accounts System, and received a welcome message in reply. Also, I've added the #fedora-docs channel to my IRC client on my Fedora 11 x86_64 box. I will be away from the house tomorrow evening, but will make every effort to join the Wednesday online meeting. It is now on my calendar as a repeat event. Whether or not I'm seasoned, it appears that 'tis the season for starting on Docs.
