update Fedora README

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

The files readme and readme-live-image that are included in Fedora releases
need updates. The main readme needs a serious overhaul.

If you are interested, these are rather short documents, but they are
needed soon. We need to push out a new POT file to translators by
this coming weekend, at the latest.

If you've got a few hours between now and Friday, do this:

1. Pick one of these to update, emailing this list to let us know you
   are working on it.

   https://fedorahosted.org/readme/
   https://fedorahosted.org/readme-live-image/

2. Get the XML source and checkout of 'fedora-doc-utils', following
the directions at the project pages.

Alternately, read the latest plain text versions below and rewrite
against the plain text. I'll happily insert changes in the XML for
you.

3. For the 'readme', it needs updating against the current install
tree. You will notice the content is rather old. The last update was
Oct. of 2007. Here is a current build:

http://quaid.fedorapeople.org/Fedora-Docs/f10-README-en_US.txt

4. For the 'readme-live-image', it needs a few updates, such as
adding more about USB devices. A latest build is here:

http://quaid.fedorapeople.org/Fedora-Docs/f10-readme-live-image-en_US.txt

Let us know if you can help,

- Karsten
