We have a good number of people on this list who are very active in document production, add that to quiet but active writers of Docs/Beats, and we're probably closer to 9% to 10%. :D My thing is community documentation, and you'll see this in my current work project. I strive for obnoxiously high percentages of contributors, by capturing and counting email/forum posts, blog entries, del.icio.us tagged work, etc. The days of a lone writer in green eyeshield and dangling cigarette banging away on an IBM Selectric in the newspaper basement, man, that is soooo behind us.
