This is an important point, Bill.  You are reporting that something has
changed between FC4 and FC5, and as the interested party and expert,
please be specific.  Quoting information that has been in Fedora Core
since FC 1 isn't getting through our thick skulls.  We need to know what
has changed, how to deal with it, and where to go for more information.

I appreciate the report, but unfortunately, I don't have the time or
knowledge without further research to understand the problem enough to
write up.

Here's a template, maybe this can help you get started:

"Changes in coreutils in Fedora Core 5 may mean you need to provide
specific environment variables for older scripts that use a POSIX in a
certain way. [Some detail.]

To change one script, do this:

* foo

To make this change across your entire environment, do this:

* bar

For more details, refer to the info page on the local system:

info coreutils Standards"
