Thanks for a rapid reply. No, no leading tab. The value in the database is and was always ok and without 'tab'. (your strings command gives me '=user1'). I was simply creating a perl script and saw that if i enter the uid with or without tab the ldap server returns the entry anyway which i found to be strange because i escape the values in the filter... You can add '\09' in the beginning and/or at the end of any ldap filter and it continues to work with FDS (you can try on your own server smth like "(uid=\09rmeggins\09\09)"...
