What JDK are you building with? It almost certainly won't build with gcj.

I am using the default Fedora 7 install ... if I need to fix this I need an SRPMS to install the packages and then to fix the idm-console-framekwork SRPMS to use them ... so any suggestions?

You've found the reason that the console isn't provided on F-7. There isn't a free JDK that can build it currently available for F-7. You'd have to start by backporting IcedTea from F-8 to F-7.

Or you can install a proprietary JDK and build it that way. I don't think console will run with gcj either still so you'd need the JRE/JDK installed to run console as well.

Is the back port just a single package or do I need to recreate Fedora 8?

I don't know, it could be a can of worms.
