For some reason, I just assumed that they would be unsigned integers.

That would make more sense to me too... since uid numbers can't be negative (as far as I know)?

Aha, they are stored as signed integers, so the actual number is in the 2 billion range... For some reason, I just assumed that they would be unsigned integers.
