Nop, I checked that:
[root@acmegrid1 ~]# /etc/init.d/nscd stop
Stopping nscd:                                             [  OK  ]
[root@acmegrid1 ~]# id -G test
1234
[root@acmegrid1 ~]# /etc/init.d/nscd start
Starting nscd:                                             [  OK  ]
[root@acmegrid1 ~]# id -G test
1234

still no gID 14....?
