export JAVA_HOME=/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/ 
1.5.0/
cd ~/fedora-ds
./startconsole -u admin -a http://127.0.0.1:2341/

do the job :-)

Just fyi. JAVA_HOME=/usr/bin doesn't work, /usr/bin/java is a script.
