Howard, this sounds interesting. I wonder if you would mind pointing me at the MMR code
in the source tree ? I've looked for it a few times without success.

It's easy to miss - check for SLAPD_MULTIMASTER in the code. The configure switch to enable it was removed a long time ago, so you need to manually #define it.
