We plan to make more and more of our design docs available on the wiki. If there is something specific you want to see, let us know and we might be able to make that available sooner rather than later.

By hand.

something which is a little more detailed than one arrow pointing from the backend to the frontend.

The source code is very detailed in this respect :-)
