OK, then there seems to be some sort of bug with the startconsole, because before I installed the IBM JVM RPM, it was spitting that long slew of java errors I sent earlier.

On my FC4test<mumble> workstation:

[root@mobile2 ~]# java -version
java version "1.4.2"
gij (GNU libgcj) version 4.0.0 20050525 (Red Hat 4.0.0-9)

That's why I thought maybe it was a path problem.
