I don't think any of the Fedora infrastructure uses branches in the traditional way that would cause -A to end up switching branches. If, however -A blows away for example -ko or -kb settings from the repository, then it's actively harmful (I don't think it does, though). It will also interfere with working on traditional branches if one creates them in Fedora CVS, ditto with any other project that uses such branches one might be working on.
