12 to 18 months ago the Board IIRC decided to *always* target late April/early May and late October/early November for the releases. IOW: we got rid of the GA + six months schedule we had for some time. Why is the idea coming back? Was the board involved?

Reading the ticket suggests that this issue is already been discussed within the ticket. It would be better to continue within there to keep the ideas together. Note: the rel-eng proposal is a draft.
