Right, no 32-bit firefox would mean no Sun Java plugin. There will still be an OpenJDK plugin which will be available for x86_64 however.

Got it. Unfortunately, I'm trying to work around http://icedtea.classpath.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=200 which is a show stopper for us.
