Seems like we need upgrades in rawhide fixes most issues. So upgrade everything first
I hope I can still use KDE to switch keyboard languages, not so sure if that moves off evdev!

confirmed with X out the box ...
OTOH kubuntu beta (ibex) comes up with opengl bling from the getgo, F10
freeeeezes when switched (ati 9200se)
