Is sendmail so huge it doesn't fit on the livecd? I suspect not, this
conversation started about boot time after all. So... don't start it for
the livecd, *do* start it when the livecd is installed to disk.
Don't confuse sendmail with "SMTP server". It doesn't have to be
sendmail. I know how to manage sendmail and use it, but obviously it
isn't for everybody.
Also, is there any way to have configuration changes like that made when
the live image is copied to disk?
Sure. Within a init script or %post section in kickstart
