What was meant (I guess) is that if DNS is broken and there is no
localhost entry in /etc/hosts, user however naive will have
bigger problems than slow sendmail on start.
Perhaps there should be a diagnostic for that added somewhere to make it
more obvious. By the way, what is supposed to happen when you use
private addressing but don't provide your own dns for it? Does it
annoy the root servers to get all those reverse lookup queries for
ranges that don't have public servers?
