Yes, shameless > plug :0 I don't think so. eg., I took over libical, which was orphaned, and later came to know that a newcomer is interested in it. Since then he has been sending patches to me, which I commit on his behalf. Once he gets sponsored, he will either maintain or co-maintain libical.
