Not entirely correct. This is the intent but there is a LOT of work. A LOT. Getting it all done in 6 months is a very tall order. It is possible that it just won't be ready to go by the next GNOME cycle and GNOME will go with a Gecko based one instead as detailed toward the end of the initial announcement[1]
