This is why we use filesystem labels, UUIDs, etc.

I'd be happy if we could install to a partition with a known label but I dont think that's an option in kickstart.

Does kickstart support specifying a device by-path ? You can then use something like this:

/dev/disk/by-path/pci-0000:00:1f.2-scsi-0:0:0:0
