Could it be that RythmBox somehow invokes nautilus? I used to have
this issue myself in a different situation, and looking back thru'
notes, it seems I usedd to stop prevent the nautilus desktop from
appearing by running:

gconftool -t bool /apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop -s false

Haven't tested this since FC-6, and this may not even be the problem
you're seeing, but thought I'd mention it.
