Hi,

I'm thinking about starting GDM earlier, by little init service, which
also could start some services AFTER gdm start, simulating faster
startup.

When I asked before, noone was interested in faster startup.

Is it possible to do?

The simulation is an incredibly poor one. The system performs like crap for quite a bit.

Nonetheless, its very easy to do in rawhide with upstart.

sed -i "s/stopped rc5/started rc5/" /etc/event.d/prefdm

and you should be on your way.
