The umount(8) in F7 and F8 supports hal. You needn't "user" or "pamconsole" option in your /etc/fstab. The umount(8) simply redirects all to /sbin/umount.hal. It means you needn't consolehelepr or whatever for hal mounts. This solution should be default on desktop.
