Be careful there before jumping to conclusions, file output is cached, so the 
log doesn't always indicate the exact place the crash takes place (because 
there's more output stuck in the cache).

The log now says this:
contour-approx: 	 [32mOk

1 of 1 tests failed
so it looks like the testsuite is locking up.

Of course, this may still be a compiler bug (miscompilation), but it could also 
be a bug in the code exposed by the new compiler (e.g. an aliasing violation).
