Bitmap fonts have passed away from systems using only xft & fontconfig.
Helvetica on Linux is/was a bitmap font.

Helvetica isn't really gone of course, because Liberation Sans and Arial are
so difficult to distinguish from it that as long as the latter two live on,
most of us won't know any difference.
