hi !
i am currently using kernel 2.6.23.8-63.fc8.i686 , but i am unable to
find it in /usr/src/kernels.. though i have kernel-devel installed
....... what i have missed to solve the problem

kernel-devel has the kernel headers and not the source code. For installing the source code of a package

# yum install yum-utils
# yumdownloader --source <packagename>
# rpm -ivh <srpm name>

Note that this is a question better suited for fedora-list.
