Yea, it's a known issue: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=311780 It's a pretty hard problem to solve though, and no one has put the time in to tackle it. In the mean time, if this is an issue for you, I would suggest using Xvnc (from the vnc-server package) instead of vino.
