/var/spool/mail is another thing that needs moving. Most of the time, I
either use $HOME/Maildir/ or database storage for mail user's mail
(assuming that mail services is what the box is offering). root mail
and /var/log/* stuff are definitely transient. While some institutions
might make it their policy to back-up information like that for
track-record keeping for future review purposes (forensics), they most
certainly aren't crucial nor relevant for _continued service use_.
