If you find software that you want to use but it isn't in Fedora, you can actually bring it to Fedora and own it there. That or you can request (via wish lists) that somebody else do the packaging work. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PackageMaintainers/Join is a great starting point if you want to package software for Fedora.
