Kernel problem and HAL broken with latest rawhide?

This afternoon I applied the latest post-test2 rawhide updates to my laptop.

The latest kernel (2.6.23-0.169.rc5.git1.fc8 doesn't get past the first
few lines of kernel output before rebooting.

When I boot with the previous installed kernel (2.6.32-0.164.rc5.fc8) it
boots but HAL doesn't start properly, meaning NetworkManager fails etc.

I can put the full set of logs in bugzilla but I'm not sure which
component to choose.
