Hopefully, Toshio mail shows that this wasn't the kind of decision you describe, something like a one way decision of FESCo, but instead a reasoned decision taking into account the time people could devote to the compat- package. I don't know if it matters, but if FESCo can limit the packages one can add to fedora with technical reasons accepted by the packagers themselves, then I don't think Fedora is for me.
