Perhaps the strongest reasons not to change or worry the dist tag are:

a) it has non-zero costs (in that it causes upgrade path issues, etc)
b) it provides nothing but some very mild cosmetic value (to some)
c) it has been discussed here previously and decided that the fc means
   fedora collection
d) there are far more pressing issues to work on
