kernel 1PPS support was in FC6 and now not in F7

Hi All,

Background.

I was running FC6 for about 6 months, with the stock kernel (not
xen). I also use a serial GPS, with gpsd to generate time source for
ntp. I was running selinux enforcing, but had ntpd running without
selinux by modifying its policy in the selinux policy gui.

The GPS has the DCD line driven by the GPS 1PPS output. If I did a
ntpq -p, it showed ntp was happily locked primarily to *SHM(1) GPS1
which is the 1PPS accuracy, and then secondary to +SHM(0) GPS which is
the non 1PPS output, then then pool servers.

Now the question and problem.

I upgraded to F7 and gps stopped. Firstly there is no selinux policy
anymore for the ntpd daemon, so I now run permissive rather than
enforcing. That got ntp using the gps via gpsd again.

However it refuses to work 1PPS. I put in a bug to fedora bugzilla
and I am told all the kernels were never compiled with 1PPS.

If this is the case how was it working happily in FC6 with a stock
kernel. If I removed the DCD line ntpq -p then completely dropped the
SHM(1) GPS1 and went to SHM(0) GPS as *

So I want to ask that the 1PPS be put back into the F7 kernel as it
was there in FC6, so why take it away?

Also the selinux-policy needs to let you disable selinux against the
ntpd daemon, so you can run enforcing.

Thanks!
