We have countless examples where this was tried and only resulted in very broken systems no one trusted. gconf is hated because of this and they started from a semi-sane structured file syntax designed to allow UI writing Just write good sample config files. Ping upstream so it sanitizes its config syntax. That's more work and less sexy than slapping an UI and worrying fonts and icons but it's the only successful approach. -- Nicolas Mailhot
