You're right; I think we need some better procedure for people to ask for help -- and we need to _encourage_ them to ask for help. For the specific case of SElinux problems, what I'd probably do myself would be file a bug against my package and then assign (or at least Cc) it to dwalsh. I wouldn't just ask on the fedora-devel mailing list -- is that what you did? I appreciate that my approach might not scale though, and he might not thank me if I advocate it as a general solution :) It would be very good to have a document addressing the things a package maintainer might need to know when packaging software.
