If you read the patch you'd understand.
I'd say it would be better to apply that patch selectively on known multilib
arches and not everywhere (otherwise e.g. it has to be adjusted for
sparc, sparc64, m68k, arm, mips, mips64, ...), something like
%ifarch %{ix86} x86_64 ppc ppc64 s390 s390x sparc sparc64
%patch8 ...
%endif
and add sparc/sparc64 support to that patch.
