Because a _deprecated_ feature in the kernel is busted, you mean?

The answer would be 'maybe'. I can't say; I don't know what needs it. I
have a crappy workaround which disables _some_ of what
CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED does, but I don't know if that's the bit which
this obsolete userspace stuff is using.
