Frankly speaking, I am not interested in arguing, I wanted to hear
yours, because I for one find "i18n'ed" dirs utterly stupid.

Yes, let the user/admin choose, instead of pestering them with a
half-cooked decision you will always make enemies with.

See above - It's basically trying to avoid a problem.

IMO, to a large amount of users, you are not solving a problem, you are
constructing a new ones.
