2.6.20 series kernels do not boot on systems with SCSI drives

The recent sequence of rawhide kernels do no boot on systems with SCSI
drives:

     https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=220470

The problem appears to be with the 2.6.20.x series kernels. [I am using
the numbering system from kernel.org]. Kernel-2.6.19.2, built from
source pulled from kernel.org boots and runs without incident.
