You're right, it does mean more work for packagers.

I can certainly help with some of the packaging.  Feel free to contact me 
off-list.

Just to clarify, I'm not suggesting splitting every single KDE app into it's 
own package; some things should be broken up into smaller sub-packages and 
others shouldn't.
